How to Choose a Solar Installer (Without Getting Burned)
The vetting checklist we run on every SolarPros installer — licensing, insurance, financing disclosure and warranty reality.
Licensing and insurance
Verify the state electrical/contractor license number directly on the state licensing board site. Confirm general liability and workers' comp are current — ask for the certificate of insurance, not just a screenshot.
Financing transparency
Any dealer-fee financing must be disclosed in writing. Compare cash price, loan price and lease/PPA price side-by-side — dealer fees can add 20%+ to the sticker price.
Warranty reality
Panel and inverter manufacturer warranties are useless if the installer disappears in year six. Prefer companies with 5+ years in business and a real local service crew.
